I've always loved music. It is a universal language, and also a mystery that flows into our spirit denying materialistic world, and somehow gets away with it.
I first started playing music when forced to have piano lessons as a child. I hated the structure of the learning, got my grade 1 exam, and finally persuaded my Dad to let me free, and stopped the lessons. A bit later, as I worked myself towards teenage angst, I found myself at the piano just lost in playing. I just knew enough to muck about with chords, then open and that open up and let what wants to come out, come out. I loved it. I made up loads of songs, and pushed my younger brother to sing them...we had C 90s of songs...if anyone can remember C 90s!
I did not really play then till my late 30s when a girlfriend encouraged me to go to a music workshop, and I got playing with a group of people. We were playing covers, and I said one day, we don't need to do covers, I can write songs, and I've been writing songs and playing in a band ever since.
I love song writing. The best songs just come, and have a life of their own...it is like catching something that has always been there. So I see song writing, like all creativity, as potentially a spiritual process. The biggest difference in my song writing since my kundalini awakening has been that many of my songs are lyrically expressing my kundalini experience. One of my songs on this website is called the "Storm". Visually, it is about a storm by the sea, but essentially it is about the kundalini storm that is reflected in lines such as "And the mind it screams as the walls come down, nothing much to see of the crumbling town"...though in this song I am also referring to the world-wide storm so these lines also refer to Syria.
Anyway, here are the lyrics from the song:
The Storm
In the winter breeze,
The storm it starts to breathe,
Swirling from behind, like a whispering mind
And now it can speak, a voice not so meek,
Boats dance in the bay, street lights start to sway
I saw the news,
Fools lit the fuse,
Troops go off to fight,
For what cannot be right
And the mind it screams ,
As the walls come down,
Nothing much to see,
Of the crumbling town
I’m by the sea, there’s only me,
I turn to walk away, there are more games to play
I’m by the sea,
There’s only me
You can listen to the Storm and other songs on the Creativity section of the website under music. Hope you enjoy them.
Great...will definitely check it out. Look forward to the meet up on Sunday.
