Angelic visitations, out of body experiences and psychic phenomenon were a huge part of my life from as far back as I can remember. However as a child, raised in a working class environment in the UK, and as a Catholic, I was afraid to reveal what I was seeing and experiencing. I learned to keep my mouth shut. At the same time, I was always looking for someone who could reflect what I knew to be true. This seeking drive led me to train as a teacher and apply for positions overseas. Along with my new husband Anthony, I was eventually offered a teaching position in the Bahamas.
As amazingly beautiful as the Bahamas proved to be, I felt a deep discontent within. Everywhere I went, I would look into the eyes of those I met and hope to find who I was looking for. In early 1989, following a painful back condition. I decided that meditation might help. I went to a local meditation center, but for the life of me, I could not meditate. My mind would not keep still. After three tries, I went home and thought, "That's it, I gave it a go, but I can't meditate." That night, I had a lucid dream. In the dream, I was walking up a hill, with a small group of people, in a rural landscape, reminiscent of India. We all entered a low, cinder block building. At the front of the room, was a low tucket. There was a Buddha like figure sitting with his eyes closed. He had a big, round belly and he was wearing a loin cloth. The instant I laid eyes on him, I recognised that he was the one I had been searching for.
I was instructed to lie down and repeat, "Om Namah Shivaya." I did as I was told, and seconds later, I felt a tap on the top of my head. I knew the great being on the tucket had tapped my head, yet I knew he had not moved. From that tap, the most incredible energy began filling my body. I felt every cell vibrating at amazing speed, I began pulsating with heat and my body began to float up off the floor. After several minutes, the fire inside was unbearable, I could not hold it any longer, and I felt myself falling through time and space. My soul entered my sleeping body through the heart chakra. Once back in my body, I let out a loud Uuuhhh sound and I sat up, startling my husband. He asked, "What happened?" I told him, "I don't know, but my life will never be the same again." This prophetic response proved true. Every form of psychic phenomenon was set ablaze and my life took a completely different turn, one that I could never have imagined. It was as if, in that moment of initiation, I was reborn. Later, I discovered the great being who had given me initiation was renowned in India. Even though he is no longer in his body (he took Mahasamadhi in the early 1960's) he is still actively doing this work via lucid dreams and out of body experiences and his name is Bhagawan Nityananda of Ganeshpuri. He is widely known as a Shaktipat Guru. In 1989, I had never heard of such a thing. Even now, all these years later, I live in a state of amazement that this could have happened to me, and most of all, how blessed my life has been as a result.
Beautiful story. Thanks for sharing. You might enjoy this version of "Om Namah Shivaya.":
