Zoom Discussion and Q+A - A Call to Awakening

Hi All,

Tonight at 5pm (BST) and for the next two Wednesday's, I am co-hosting a series of zoom sessions based on some films that I made last year. We won't be screening the films, but instead showing clips and having discussions with interviewees about some of the topics concerned. The films are not about Kundalini, but more about a general collective social and spiritual awakening that our societies or going through. If you do want to attend, it is free and lasts around 1 hour. The details are below and also include the sessions over the next two weeks. The organiser is US based Sarah Maclean and her community is very meditation based so in each session she is also including a meditation.

I will also be posting a date for the next Kundalini Zoom meet up soon.

Thanks,

Sameer

Awaken Wednesday: Special Opening Series: A Call to Awakening is a three-week series offered March 31, April 7 & April 14 and will feature a film clip, a thoughtful discussion with interviewees from the films, and a community meditation. Join Sarah McLean and ourselves (Sameer, Katie and Julian) for a three-session series to highlight some of the opportunities we’ve been offered while navigating this time of uncertainty. During the series, we’ll be inspired by a short clip (3-5 minutes) of the film series which will ignite a thoughtful conversation with featured teachers from the film. We’ll then meditate together to deepen our exploration. For some, our collective year-long journey has been a call to awaken to a new way of being. We’ll explore the themes of metamorphosis and infinite possibilities, finding safe space and creating a sanctuary within, and exploring the shadow side and finding its gifts.

The program is free of charge and is generally 45 -60 minutes. Here is the link to join the program:

https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89607038493 Event Specifics: Wednesday, 31st March, 9 am PDT /12 noon EDT/ 5 pm BST: Opportunities found in Crises & Uncertainty The natural state of the world is that it is unpredictable. One of the greatest challenges of our time could be to understand the wisdom of uncertainty and resist the temptation to adopt meta-narratives. Crises show us again and again how fragile human-made systems are, and remind us of the potentiality of the future. Perhaps we can learn to trust that crises bring opportunities for true transformation. Join the discussion on metamorphosis and infinite possibilities, with luminaries Dr. Aftab Omer and Katie Mottram, followed by a silent meditation. Dr Aftab Omer is a sociologist, psychologist, futurist and the president of Meridian University. Raised in Pakistan, India, Hawaii, and Turkey, he was educated at the universities of M.I.T, Harvard University, and Brandeis University. His publications have addressed the topics of transformative learning, cultural leadership, generative entrepreneurship, and complexity capability. His work includes assisting organizations in tapping the creative potentials of conflict, diversity, and complexity. Formerly the president of the Council for Humanistic and Transpersonal Psychologies, he is a Fellow of the International Futures Forum and the World Academy of Arts and Sciences. Katie Mottram is a British author, campaign founder, and publisher with a specialist interest in mental health and spirituality. She was one of the founding directors of the International Spiritual Emergence Network. In 2017, Katie founded the International anti- stigma campaign to re- frame mental distress as a difficult transformation process; #Emerging Proud. Her most recent project is the publication of a series of ‘Pocket Books of Hope’ through her not-for-profit publishing company, Emerging Proud Press. Wednesday, 7th April, 9 am PDT / 12 noon EDT/ 5 pm BST: Conscious Communication and Safe Spaces Awakening begins when we broaden our viewpoint and embrace others’ perspectives, and shift from a dualistic mind state to one more unitive. Though holding two or more seemingly paradoxical thoughts simultaneously can be a challenge, it is a natural and real state of being. We’ll explore how create safe spaces that allow meaningful and transformative conversations in the Way of the Council practice. Join the discussion on creating sanctuary and bearing witness to all that is, with Dr. Mick Collins and Coco Oya Cienna-Rey, followed by a meditative council practice on the topic of not leaving yourself in times of trouble. Dr. Mick Collins’ career includes working in the field of mental health as an NHS Occupational Therapist in a psychological therapies team. He was a lecturer for ten years in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of East Anglia, where he was also a Director of Admissions. Mick's research, publications, and doctoral thesis are focused on the actualization of our psycho-spiritual-eco potential. He’s the author of two books which explore how humanity can co-create an improved future: The Unselfish Spirit and The Visionary Spirit. He was interviewed about his work at the International Hay Festival of Literature in 2015 and appeared on Conscious TV in 2016. Mick lives in Norwich, UK, and is a husband, father, and grandfather. Coco Oya Cienna-Rey is a UK based creative, soul guide, and writer. Her creativity is informed by her journey as a devotee of the Tantric path (an embodied path of self-liberation), and her experience within the field of trauma. She has always felt a call to channel the Voice of the Divine Feminine and is published in several anthologies. Often thought-provoking, yet always heartfelt, her work speaks of the sacred wisdom stored in the body, the non-linear nature of trauma, and the embodiment of soul. She believes that our innate connection to the natural world can heal humanity and admires the human capacity to take the pains and chaos of life and transmute them into purpose, passion, and beauty. Her growing body of work named ‘Feminine Fundamentals’ speaks to the current evolutionary shift on the planet as we collectively balance the masculine and feminine principles within and without.; exploring the concepts of relationships, intimacy, and connection as spiritual practices. https://creativelycoco.com/ Wednesday, 14th April, 9 am PDT / 12 noon EDT/ 5 pm BST: Grief Tending and Finding the Gifts of the Shadow Once awakening occurs, the transformation continues and is revealed in our outer world, and there is a constant feedback loop and a mutual informing of inner and outer processes and consequential evolutions. Perhaps the greatest challenge of our time is to maintain the awareness of both the inner and outer as is expressed in the individual, community, nature, and culture. There are no shortcuts through this process and we suggest a good way to begin is by looking inside ourselves. Join the discussion on , exploring the shadow, navigating grief, and being self-compassionate with the filmmakers, followed by a guided meditation on the gifts of the hero’s journey. About Awaken Wednesday: Hay House author, Sarah McLean invites you to a community practice offered every Wednesday of 2021, from 9 am PDT, 12 noon EDT, 5 pm BST. Connect with others who love to meditate for a thoughtful discussion and group meditation. Free and open to all, Awaken Wednesday is held in cooperation with the Feast for the Soul & the McLean Meditation Institute.
