Topic: In recent years there’s been a huge surge in people recognising their neurodivergence, leading to testing centres being inundated with new referrals. This wave has largely been driven by people speaking up about their own internal experiences and in doing so holding a mirror for others to recognise themselves. As more people express their inner experience, outdated stereotypes are being broken down, and new understandings are emerging. Jen uses the term ‘Neurodivergent awakening’ to describe the process of discovering or uncovering neurodivergence, perhaps later in life. During her own journey, she has noticed many parallels between how people describe their Spiritual awakening and how people describe their ‘neurodivergent awakening’. Including a breakdown of conditioning, a call to live more authentically, and the difficulties and joys of adjusting to the ‘new’ version of self which is emerging. Jen recognises there is much wisdom to be shared between the two experiences.

Two years ago, Jen went through an intense spiritual awakening around a similar time to learning about her own neurodivergence.  Following this, she felt as if the newly awakened energy inside was calling her to make changes in her life. One of these changes surprised her - a strong internal push to get officially diagnosed. Jen is now diagnosed with ADHD and Autism or “AuDHD”. Over the last two years, she’s listened to countless people talk of their experiences of both spiritual awakening and ‘neurodivergent awakening’, yet hasn’t heard many speak of these two experiences together. Jen has felt an inner call to speak on this.
