THE ASCENT OF KUNDALINI

The ascent of Kundalini is the journey of Shakti—the dynamic spiritual power—from the gross plane of human consciousness toward Sahasrara, the highest centre of awareness.

As Kundalini rises through the chakras, consciousness moves beyond identification with the body, senses, desires and restless mind. The gross becomes increasingly subtle.

The journey culminates in Sahasrara, where Shiva and Shakti unite.

This union is associated with Samadhi—a state beyond the usual distinction between experiencer and experience, subject and object. The mind falls silent, and consciousness touches non-duality—Advaita.

It is a profound movement from multiplicity toward unity, from the gross toward the subtle, from limited consciousness toward limitless awareness.

But the journey does not end with union.

The ascent takes consciousness beyond the ordinary world.

The descent brings transformed consciousness back into the world.

And here begins the deeper mystery of Kundalini.

THE DESCENT OF KUNDALINI

Far less is spoken about the descent of Kundalini after the union in Sahasrara.

When Shiva and Shakti unite in Samadhi, duality disappears. From this union, a bindu—a point or drop— will arise, the subtle seed from which creation can manifest again.

The bindu divides, and Shiva and Shakti appear once more as complementary principles.

This begins the descent.

In ascent, Shakti rises toward Shiva.

In descent, Shiva and Shakti return together toward the gross plane.

They follow the same pathway through which consciousness became subtle, but now the subtle is expressed through the gross.

Yet the one who returns is not the same.

The body, mind and senses remain. Life continues with its relationships, responsibilities, pleasures and pains. But consciousness has been transformed.

The ordinary mind is no longer the sole ruler. A higher awareness begins to guide thought, emotion, perception and action.

You return to the world, but you do not return with the same consciousness.

You can participate in the drama of duality while recognizing the unity behind it. You can understand suffering and ordinary human life without being completely imprisoned by them.

Shakti continues to express through matter and life, while Shiva represents the consciousness that illumines and understands them.

Therefore, love, compassion, wisdom, charity and service become expressions of transformed consciousness.

The purpose is not merely to escape the world.

It is to transcend consciousness—and bring that consciousness back into life.

The ascent is transcendence.

The descent is transformation.

Together, they form the complete journey:

From the world to the Divine,

and from the Divine back into the world.
